Rare vs Expensive — Not the Same Thing
When people talk about rare CS2 skins, most of the time they just mean expensive skins.
Dragon Lore, Gungnir, Wild Lotus, all that crazy stuff.
But that is not always the same as actual rarity.
A skin can be expensive because people love it, because it is on an AK/AWP/M4, or because collectors are willing to pay stupid money for it. But in this post, we are looking at it a different way:
How many of these skins are actually known in the database?
No "Factory New only" ranking. No "best float" stuff. No pattern bait. Just raw known supply.
And some of these numbers are actually crazy.
#10 — Souvenir AUG | Condemned
Starting the list with a skin most people would skip without even thinking about it. The Souvenir AUG | Condemned is not flashy. It is not the kind of skin people flex in a lobby.
But that is exactly why this list is interesting. Only 433 are tracked in the database — for a souvenir AUG that has been around since the early CS:GO days, that is stupid low.
It shows that rarity in CS2 is not always about hype. Sometimes the rare stuff is hidden in these older, ugly, forgotten skins that nobody cared about back then.
#9 — Souvenir MP9 | Orange Peel
Another forgotten souvenir on a weapon nobody cares about. The Souvenir MP9 | Orange Peel is the definition of "rare but unwanted."
426 known copies sounds like a lot until you remember how many skins exist in CS2 in total. For a souvenir that dropped at multiple early tournaments, this is genuinely low supply — but the MP9 itself just does not attract collector attention the way rifles or pistols do.
#8 — Souvenir Desert Eagle | Mudder
The Deagle is one of the most iconic weapons in CS2, so any souvenir version automatically gets more attention than something like an MP9. The Mudder is not a hype skin by any means — it is a basic dirty-camo design — but a souvenir Deagle with only 422 known copies is more interesting than you would think.
This is the kind of skin a collector might pick up specifically because it is on the Deagle, not because the finish itself is anything special.
#7 — Souvenir M4A1-S | Boreal Forest
The M4A1-S | Boreal Forest is one of those skins that looks basic, but the souvenir version is way rarer than most people would expect. Only 419 are found in the database.
And because it is an M4A1-S, it is at least on a weapon people actually use. That makes it more interesting than some of the random low-tier souvenir skins on this list.
It is not a clean skin. It is not a hype skin. But number-wise, it is rare.
#6 — Souvenir USP-S | Forest Leaves
Another one that sounds boring until you actually look at the number.
Only 411 are found. That is insanely low when you remember how many CS2 skins exist now.
The USP-S is also a main pistol, so even if the skin itself is not crazy popular, the weapon gives it a little more collector interest. A lot of rare old souvenir skins are on weapons people do not care about, but this one is at least on a pistol everyone knows.
#5 — Souvenir Five-SeveN | Silver Quartz
Now we are getting into the really low numbers.
Only 199 known copies in the database. Under 200 is already wild.
This is the type of skin where most players probably never saw one in game, never searched for one, and never even knew it existed as a souvenir version.
It is not a crazy expensive "mainstream" skin, but from a pure rarity point of view, this thing is actually rare. The kind of item a hardcore collector would buy just to have one, knowing they will probably never see another one listed for sale.
#4 — Souvenir AWP | Pit Viper
Here is where the list starts getting really interesting.
Only 109 known copies — and this one is on the AWP. That changes everything.
AWP skins always get more attention from collectors, traders, and normal players. So seeing a souvenir AWP with only 109 known copies is pretty insane.
It is not a Dragon Lore. It is not a Gungnir. But by actual supply, this thing is way rarer than most people think.
#3 — Souvenir Dual Berettas | Cobalt Quartz
The Souvenir Dual Berettas | Cobalt Quartz comes in with only 107 known copies.
Yeah, it is Dual Berettas — so most people will not care as much as they would for an AK or AWP. But 107 is 107.
That is still an insanely low number for any CS2 skin. And that is why this list is cool — it is not just another "most expensive skins" copy-paste list.
This skin is genuinely rare by database count, even if the weapon does not pull mainstream attention.
#2 — Souvenir M4A1-S | Nitro
This one is honestly one of the coolest on the list.
The Souvenir M4A1-S | Nitro has only 105 found in the database. And unlike some of the other skins here, this one is actually on a proper weapon.
M4A1-S skins always get more attention, especially rare souvenir ones. So seeing one this low is crazy.
This is the kind of skin that can easily fly under the radar because it does not look like some insane luxury skin. But number-wise, it is rarer than a lot of skins people talk about way more.
🏆 #1 — Souvenir R8 Revolver | Bone Mask
This is the crazy one.
The Souvenir R8 Revolver | Bone Mask has only 9 found in the database.
Nine.
That is not "rare" like people say about expensive skins. That is actually stupid rare.
The funny part is that it is on the R8 Revolver, so most players would never even think about it. Nobody is opening CS2 and saying, "Damn, I need the rarest R8 skin."
But from a pure database-count point of view, this thing is insane. Only 9 known copies makes it one of the rarest CS2 skins ever tracked.
If you ever see one listed: take a screenshot. You might not see another for years.
👀 Honorable Mentions
A few skins did not make the top 10 by raw count, but deserve a mention because they are interesting in other ways:
Souvenir M4A1-S | Imminent Danger — 476 known
Higher count than everything on the list, but worth flagging because it is one of the rarest actually desirable souvenir skins in CS2. The Imminent Danger finish is sharp, it is on the M4A1-S, and it carries real collector appeal — unlike a Souvenir MP9 nobody wants.
For a high-tier souvenir, 476 is still very low.
Souvenir P250 | Nuclear Threat — 595 known
Souvenir Tec-9 | Nuclear Threat — 549 known
These two are not as low as the R8 Bone Mask or the M4A1-S Nitro, but they are still very rare compared to most skins, and they come from that older souvenir/collection area where supply gets weird.
The Nuclear Threat finish also has a much cooler look than the basic camo-style skins higher on this list. They feel like proper collector pieces instead of "old random souvenir skin nobody looked at."

🔍 Found Something Rarer? Let Me Know.
This list is based on what I tracked in the database, but CS2 has thousands of skin variants and database counts can shift over time as new tournaments drop new souvenirs.
If you find a CS2 skin with a lower known count than the R8 Bone Mask (9), drop it in the comments below.
If it checks out, I will add it to this post and credit the find.
Things I am especially curious about: tournament souvenirs from smaller/older Majors, weird crate-edge cases, anything from collections that were briefly available and then pulled.
💡 Final Thoughts — Rarity vs Price
This list really shows how weird CS2 rarity can be.
The skins most people talk about are usually the expensive ones. Dragon Lore, Gungnir, Wild Lotus, Howl, all the usual names. But if we only look at how many are known in the database, some random old souvenir skins are way rarer than the famous expensive skins.
The best example is obviously the Souvenir R8 Revolver | Bone Mask with only 9 found.
Is it the most wanted skin in the game? No.
Is it one of the rarest by number? 100%.
And that is the difference.
Price and rarity are connected, but they are not the same thing.
- Some skins are expensive because everyone wants them
- Some skins are rare because basically nobody has them
- The rarest stuff is not always sitting on a Dragon Lore — sometimes it is hiding on a random R8 Revolver nobody even checks
